Announcing Mahamudra Ashram, an ecological community in the Himalayas

Mahamudra Ashram, an ecological community in the HimalayasThanks to the kind-hearted support of a great master and his devoted disciple we have been offered land to establish our own ashram in the Himalayas.

We plan to create a cooperative, self-sufficient, ecological, community where life-sustaining skills can be practiced and learned.

Mahamudra Ashram will be based on a universal spiritual philosophy. It will not promote one teacher or one path. All are welcome. As Shirdi Sai Baba said, “I respect all religions but I am not only one religion. My religion is love.”

Tara and I are not gurus. We prefer to be thought of as spiritual friends.

There will be a residential staff as well as accomodations for guests who attend retreats or courses on:

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Qigong
  • Tai Chi
  • Organic Gardening
  • Permaculture
  • Sustainable Architecture
  • Vegan Diet and Cooking
  • Tonic Herbalism
  • Tea Ceremony
  • and more…

Many people have already expressed an interest in coming to visit or living at this ashram.

Here are the steps to manifesting this space dedicated to building a better world for future generations.

PHASE 1: Hopefully in October 2020 we will go with our benefactor to select the land in the Himalayas.

PHASE 2: Purchasing the land and creating a foundation with a Board of Directors.

PHASE 3: Creating a site plan consisting of the necessary infrastructure to begin operations.

PHASE 4: Building accommodations for 10 people to begin with (later expanding to 20 and then 30) along with kitchen, dining hall, lecture hall, common bathrooms and showers.

PHASE 5: Open for hosting guests and holding retreats by the summer of 2022 in time for the Kumbha Mela.

We welcome assistance of any kind; financial, advice or prayers.
